Space City 125 Could Make or Break Championship Dream

As the clock ticks closer to the start of the 3rd Annual Space City 125, five competitors prepare for what could be the difference in winning or losing the season point championship in the Texas Super Racing Series. Five of the best stock car drivers in Texas are locked in an extremely tight point race and only fifty-one points separate them. Any mistakes at this point in the season could end the dream of the championship for these competitors.

 

Mike Yale continues to control his own destiny, but needs to recapture the swagger he had early in the season when he grabbed two victories in the first two points races of the year. One of Yale's two victories came at HMP in May so he has reason to feel confident going into the Space City 125.

 

"We're looking forward to Houston. We stumbled on to some things we didn't have enough time or parts to explore the last time there. We were pretty fast last time so I think with the Pit Stop competition we can have a solid run," stated Yale. "Houston's going to be the deal, it will make or break us. From here on out there's no flat tires, no transmission seals leaking, no nothing. We're going to have to go over these cars top to bottom and give it 120%.

 

Brad Hudak may be the hottest driver on the circuit right now. Hudak claimed his forth straight top five at Corpus Christi two weeks ago and appears to be the man with the momentum entering the Space City race. Only eighteen points separate Yale and Hudak entering these final two races. "I feel very confident," said Hudak. "We did what we needed to do in Corpus. Our goal now is to come out of Houston with the points lead and finish it off in San Antonio." Hudak has one win this year and that win came in July at HMP.

 

Beau Bukowski trails Yale by a paltry thirty-seven points and has a pair of third place finished at HMP this season. Following Bukowski is Lloyd Alexander who is a scant forty-nine points behind Yale. Alexander has also had two good runs at HMP this season with a second and forth place finish to his credit. Jeff Pollard rounds out the top five trailing Yale by a meager fifty-one points. Pollard has claimed victory at HMP this season in a non-points race in May, but has not had a top ten finish in either of the point races this season.
