Beach Bash 100 Next Stop For Texas Super Racing Series

By Pat Mayberry

The stars of the Texas Super Racing Series are geared up to hit the famed quarter mile oval of Corpus Christi Motor Speedway for the final time this season on Saturday night, September 18th, for the Beach Bash 100. As an added bonus for race fans and the competing teams, the Beach Bash 100 is also the second leg of the series' coveted Triple Crown mini-series.

The Triple Crown Series was started last year when series officials wanted to create some additional excitement for both drivers and fans with selected special dates during the season. "I think it creates an opportunity for such a prestigious title and adds to the already excitement that TSRS offers to the race fans, the drivers and their crews" said series founder, Mary Ann Naumann.

The series wanted three race dates at three different tracks to test driver's ability to set-up a wining racecar and also to test the driver's skill behind the wheel. The Triple Crown Series also features a bonus to any driver that can will all three of the special races. Not only will the driver win that night's purse, but also by sweeping the three-race mini-series, the driver will win an additional $2,500 bonus and a multitude

of contingency awards.

Current series point's leader, Mike Yale, is the man on the hot seat who could earn the Triple Crown bonus money this year. Yale took the first leg of the mini-series in May with a hard fought win in Houston. Yale should have confidence entering the Beach Bash 100 because he already has experienced success at CCMS this season winning the inaugural series event back in March.

However, Jeff Pollard has also tamed the tight confines of CCMS this season. On the most recent trip to CCMS in June, Pollard overcame severe transmission problems to capture his second victory of the season. The Beach Bash 100 sets up what appears to be quite a shootout of the two drivers with the most wins on the tour this season.

Other series competitors to watch for this race are, Brad Hudak, who was a runner-up to Pollard in June and took eighth place finish from the season opener at CCMS. Hudak has been on a real hot streak the last few dates and has moved into second place in the point standings.

Lloyd Alexander also should be on the watch list. Alexander led sixty-two laps in the CCMS June race before having a slow leaking right front tire cost him a victory. Alexander settled for a top five that night and also has a top nine finish this year at CCMS. "The points are tight so we do expect some great racing action," said Naumann of the push for the championship among the top series drivers.

The Beach Bash 100-lap feature event will run the first fifty laps with cautions counting. Then the final fifty will be green flag only racing to ensure the fans get to see as much green flag racing as possible. "We know the Race fans like the crashes, but not the time that they sometimes take to get cleaned up. For any long clean ups, we plan to make every effort to do what we can do to insure, we save the laps for racing," explained Naumann of the yellow flag rules for this race. "This 100 lap feature event will be the second of the "Triple Crown" events and we hope to give the Race fans some great green flag racing,"

Gates open at 6:00PM with qualifying begins at 7:15PM. Racing will start at 8:00PM. Please visit the series web page at www.manracingpromotions.com for more information on the Texas Super Racing Series.
