The dates for the 3rd Annual Space City 125 are October 1st and 2nd. For the second year in a row, the Texas Super Racing Series will be the sanctioning body for this one of a kind late model stock car race at Houston Motorsports Park. The Space City 125 is the only event of it's kind in Texas using the unique qualification schedule of a pit stop competition to set the starting field. Because pit stops are one of the most exciting parts of a race, this competition for qualification has proved to be very popular with the fans. This year's Space City 125 is expected to draw racing teams from across Texas as well as several surrounding states to challenge 2003 defending race winner Brad Hudak. More than twenty-two race teams ompeted for a purse of more than $7000 at last year's race in front of an estimated crowd of nearly five thousand race fans. The 2004 purse has not been announced, but race organizers are expecting the 2004 event to be even bigger. Organizers have not yet secured title sponsorship for this year's event but smaller incremental sponsors are being secured. Despite not having a title sponsor only four weeks from the event, organizers are moving forward with hopes of securing a title sponsor soon.
