SAN ANTONIO SPEEDWAY ANNOUNCES “PUBLIC SAFETY NIGHT”

San Antonio, TX – September 3, 2004 – San Antonio Speedway is proud to announce a “Public Safety Night” on Saturday, September 11, 2004. To honor our vital public servants on this historic date, San Antonio Speedway is inviting all emergency services workers (law enforcement, fire, EMT, etc.) and military personnel to spend an entertaining evening at a NASCAR stock-car race, free of charge, on September 11. Not only will all emergency workers and military personnel (active and reserves) be admitted free just by showing their ID, but they’ll also be able to bring along their families at half-off the Speedway’s regular low-ticket prices of $10 for adults and $3 for kids’ ages 7-11. Children six-years-old and under will be admitted free. Parking is free.

“We feel it’s especially important to pay tribute to these dedicated people who make our community safer by deterring crime, protecting against fires, responding to disasters, defending our county and even safeguarding us against terrorist activities,” said San Antonio Speedway General Manager, Mike Sepich. He added, “We hope to have a good number of public safety personnel on hand to thank and honor.”

On September 11, the NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series will feature the NASCAR Late Model, Sportsman, Road Runner and Women on Wheels classes. San Antonio Speedway is a NASCAR sanctioned half-mile asphalt oval track located at 14901 State Highway 16 South (3.5 miles outside Loop 410). Grandstand gates open at 5:00 p.m. for this event, opening ceremonies take place at 7:45 p.m., and the racing action starts at 8:00 p.m. Visit the San Antonio Speedway website at San Antonio Speedway for more information.

We have not purchased any radio or TV spots for this promotion. However, the press release has been sent to emergency center and military contacts, e.g., SAPD, Fire & EMS, volunteer fire departments, sheriff's department, military bases, etc. In addition, K-ROCK has offered to help out with some free promotion. I will be doing some follow-up contacts with the local TV stations to hopefully get some coverage. But with high school football in full swing, it may be difficult to get coverage.

The track has already received several calls from police officers, etc., verifying the free admission. So, hopefully the word has already been spread somewhat.
