CAM Racing
MENNUTI CAPTURES EDNA GOLD By Aaron Ort 8/28 Texana Raceway in Edna, Texas opened it¡¦s gates to the monthly running of the Pure Stock endurance race this past Saturday night as a field of ten went round for round with each other, resulting in a two-car shootout for the win. As the Olympic games closed out their ceremonies, there was one sport that was not represented. The excitement of motor sports was not present in any of the halls of Greece, yet was adhered to in South Texas as a gold was represented to current points leader, #47 Tony Mennuti of Port Lavaca! Mennuti was challenged by two competitors throughout the night as both stuck on his rear bumper for the duration. Port Lavaca¡¦s #75 Shad Casey completed the evening in second with 140 laps, never exiting the track off of the lead lap while Louise¡¦s #55 Monty Chamberlain fell a lap behind in the first segment of the race. Chamberlain was never able to bounce back from his pre race falter, but stuck with the two front runners to finish third with 139 laps complete. #18 Jonathon Arterberry took it to the field, falling only four laps off pace to finish third with 136 complete. Veteran racer, #61 Bob Ort of Inez held on to fifth with 135 complete while #53 Carl Woods of Rockport left the second pack behind with 114 to take sixth. #71 Amber Mennuti (Port Lavaca) followed her father around the track to finish in seventh with 103 complete as #41 Michael Roark (Deer Park) spun through to complete 73 laps to take eighth. #04 Carlos Rangel (Rockport) finished ninth while teammate, #36 Corey Viar (Rockport) finished in tenth. Next scheduled race night at Texana Raceway will be Saturday, September 4 with the seven divisions of points racing resuming. Texana Raceway is located two miles East of Edna on Hwy. 111, left CR 412. Phone (361) 782 0200 for current events and any weather cancellations. "Where Friends and Family Come To Have Fun!" racin4fun
what a fun track and great people. Just want to say "Thanks" to the owner's, staff and other drivers. It only took a few hours to get the mud out of our 3 cars lol, but it was worth it.
