Fireworks continue for USMTS Modifieds Friday-Saturday at Chateau Raceway, Deer Creek Speedway

AUSTIN, Minn. (July 5) – The fireworks keep happening in Southern Minnesota this weekend as two big events are on tap for the USMTS Casey’s Cup Series this Friday, July 6, at the Chateau Raceway in Lansing and Saturday, July 7, at the Deer Creek Speedway in Spring Valley.

The stage set for a star-spangled, star-studded, fireworks-blasting night of racing at Chateau Raceway to celebrate the Fourth of July as Dahle Enterprises of Morristown, Miner’s Outdoor & Rec of Blooming Prairie, A&A Electric and Underground of Kasson and Tiny’s Body Shop of Austin present the 15th Annual Mike Guttormson Memorial Race.

This event was rained out on May 25 and rescheduled for Friday, July 6.

Past USMTS winners at the Chateau Raceway include 2012 USMTS National Champion Jason Hughes, 2008 USMTS National Champion Tim Donlinger, 2007 USMTS National Champion Jason Krohn, Tommy Myer, Jon Tesch, nine-time USMTS National Champion Kelly Shryock, defending USMTS National Champion Ryan Gustin and Mike Chasteen.

Defending track champ Jason Cummins along with current track points leader Brandon Davis, Todd Scharkey, A.J. Wiste, Doug Hillson and Jacob Dahle will try to defend their home turf against the touring pros.

The fireworks will not only be on the track but in the sky as well. The speedway already boasts one of the area's top fireworks shows that draws a big crowd, but Dahle Enterprises has added to that this year for even more aerial beauty above the speedway.

And if that wasn't enough ... from the time the gates open at 5:30 until hot laps begin at 7 p.m., fans can get $1 Farm Boy BBQ pulled pork sandwiches and $1 beers.

Thanks to Sears of Austin, Yeager Machine and Farm Boy BBQ, the hard charger in Friday night’s main event will get a new 32-inch flat screen TV. Plus, the first non-qualifiers in the Real Racing Wheels “B” Mains will receive a new stainless steel grill.

Other classes on the racing card include Midwest Mods, Street Stocks and Pure Stocks.

The Chateau Raceway is a 1/3-mile semi-banked clay oval located 5.0 miles north of Austin on US 218 to the Lansing exit, then 1.3 miles east on CR 2, then 0.4 mile south on CR 25, then 0.3 mile east. For more info, call 507-391-2486 or 507-433-4578 on race day or visit www.chateauraceway.net.

On Saturday night, the horsepower explodes as the USMTS Modifieds share the spotlight with the World of Outlaws Late Models at the Deer Creek Speedway for the 33rd Annual NAPA Gopher 50.

The Deer Creek Speedway sits on 60 acres with one of America’s most popular state-of-the-art racing complexes, including the all-new high-rise Fan Zone. More USMTS main events have been staged here than any other racetrack, and Saturday’s feature race will be the 57th here in the 14-year history of the United States Modified Touring Series.

The day starts off at 12 noon with a bean bag tourney before the gates swing open at 3 p.m. The first heat race is scheduled to take the track at 6:30.

USMTS drivers in both Friday and Saturday night main events will be battling for $2,000 to win, but there is also a $1,000 bonus to the Deer Creek Speedway winner if that driver is sporting the NAPA decal. The track will also host a post-race bon-fire following the races, courtesy of NAPA Auto Parts.

The Deer Creek Speedway is a high-banked 3/8-mile clay oval located 11.3 miles south of I-90 (exit 209) on US 63 (0.7 mile north of SR 16). Order your tickets now on-line at www.deercreekspeedway.com or call 877-DCS-RACE.
