(June 30) – IMCA Modifieds and Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods go topless Friday, July 6 at Salina Speedway. The second annual Topless Modified Challenge sees both open wheeled divisions run without roofs or sail panels. Modifieds race for $1,000 to win and a minimum of $100 to start their Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot qualifier; SportMods vie for $500 to win and a minimum of $50 to start. Twenty cars will take the initial green flag in each feature. IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks are also on the card. IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National, Allstar Performance State and local track points will be awarded in all three divisions. Modifieds also earn Jet Racing Central Region points and Hobby Stocks Stephenville Starter Northern Region points. Entry fee is $50 for Modifieds and $25 for SportMods. Pit gates open at 4:30 p.m., the grandstand opens at 5:30 p.m., hot laps are at 7:15 p.m. and racing starts at 8 p.m. Grandstand admission is $10 for adults and free for kids 12 and under. As part of military appreciation night, all military personnel with photo ID get in free. Pit passes are $25. More information is available by calling 785 608-9375.
