30 the number to know for Sept. 3-8 IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals

 

BOONE, Iowa (June 29) – One of the most important numbers at the upcoming IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals is 30.

 

The Sept. 3-8 event at Boone Speedway is the 30th in Super Nationals history. As such, main event fields have been expanded to 30 cars for the Late Models and Sport Compacts.

 

Qualifying features for Modifieds, Stock Cars, Hobby Stocks and Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods will also start 30 with top eight finishers advancing to main events.

 

“There have not been that many changes to the format of Super Nationals over the years,” noted IMCA Vice President of Operations Brett Root. “The number of heats held each night in different divisions will be determined by car counts, which obviously we won’t know until Super Nationals starts.”

 

“One thing we do know is that Late Models will start three-wide in the Deery Brothers Summer Series show on opening night,” he added.

 

Stock Car, Hobby Stock and Northern SportMod main events will continue to start 30 cars; 33 Modifieds again take the green flag in the big show on Saturday.

 

No change was made in the number of cars starting any Race of Champions event.

 

Two qualifying features for Hobby Stocks and one for Northern SportMods will be held on Monday and two qualifiers for SportMods and one for Hobby Stocks on Tuesday. Each of those races send eight cars to Saturday’s main event.

 

The top 30 in points for each division will be entered in a last-chance qualifier on Wednesday to determine the final six starting positions.

 

Stock Cars and Modifieds determine their respective inside row of eight on Wednesday, middle row of eight on Thursday and outside row of eight on Friday.

 

A final last chance race is new for the Stock Cars and will add six cars to the back of the lineup on Saturday. The Modified field will be completed with the addition of nine cars from last chance heats and features Saturday.

 

The Friday, Sept. 7 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational will also start 30 Modifieds. Twenty cars took the green in that event last year.

 

Winning the Modified championship at Super Nationals could be worth as much as $7,000. That amount includes a minimum of $2,000 plus a $100 bonus for each of as many as 50 sanctioned starts made during the season, coined the IMCA Weekly Racing Bonus.

 

The Late Model champion earns $2,000 plus a bonus of as much as $1,500; The Stock Car champion earns $1,000 and as much as $2,500 in bonus money; the Northern SportMod champion $1,000 and as much as $1,250; the Hobby Stock champion $600 and as much as $1,250; and the Mach-1 Sport Compact champion $250 and as much as an additional $250.
