NickHolt
Breeding Thunders to the checked flag! Dark clouds, high winds, lightning and thunder greeted us back to the track after a week off and racers went through another night of wondering if we would get the show in or not. A shower after the first heat of the night , it looked doubtful that the races would go on. But the rain passed , the track workers rolled the track back in and it was on! 26 IMCA Modifieds were on hand. cars from Abilene, joined the fun since Abilene Speedway was under water. #5 Billy Johnson and #101 Butch Reid were on the front row for the start, but on lap two, #44 Trent Crawford tapped #5 Johnson and sent him around , and brought out a restart with #44 Crawford sent to the back. The restart was clean , the track was tacky and fast, on lap five #21 Jimmy Breeding powered from fourth to first on the back straight going three wide into turn three, #101 Butch Reid was caught in the middle and backed out to allow #21 Breeding and #5 Johnson to run into 4 hard with #21 Breeding coming out in the lead , and thundered down the front straight leaving #101 Reid and #5 Johnson to battle for second. #16 Bob Sikes and #53 J.D. White tangled on lap 10 sending #53 White off with damaged wheel and tire, the restart had #21 Breeding, #5 Johnson , #101 Butch Reid in the top three spots. While #21 Breeding was smoking the track. #101 Reid had moved into second and #5 Johnson spun again and limped off the track, and #8 Ken Couch had kept his car at the front and moved into third. Back in the pack #44 Trent Crawford had charged from the back up to seventh, but a swarm of fast cars #16 Bob Sikes, #49 Vince Ogle, #10 Shane Gray, and #85 Neal Flowers were bunched up racing for fourth through sixth positions. #101 Reid gave #21 Breeding a challenge in the final laps , but Breeding would hold on for the win, and third place, back to seventh came down to who was best out of turn four to the flag. Sixteen IMCA Stock Cars rolled onto the track with #6 Lynard Barrera and #007 Chris Myers leading the pack to green, #007 Chris Myers taking the lead, only to have tire problems on the second lap bring out a red flag and restart. #65 Eric Jarrel had taken the lead and brought the pack down to the restart. On lap five, #8 Bubba Locke cut a tire and limped off the track, while #9 Justin Graves was hard into turn one and spun bringing out another red flag and a restart. #55 Trey Jarrel had moved to the front and took the lead on lap seven, but yet another red flag would fly when #2 Chad Warren would hit the wall head on coming of turn two bringing out the red and the wreckers, and a scramble by emergency crews to check on him. #2 Warren was just fine, and the wreck cleared and the restart saw brothers #55 Trey Jarrel , and #65 Eric Jarrel leading the pack. The racing for fourth got intense when #71 Phillip Houston and #16 Bubba Sikes got together in turn four, and tore up the fender on #16 Sikes, and sending #71 Houston off the track with a tire cut. and just after that in turn one #16 Sikes and #6 Barrera were banging on each other cutting a tire on the #16 Sikes car and sending him to the trailer. #55 Trey Jarrel continued to lead, and #65 Eric Jarrel running second, #34 Tim Pyle was moving his way to the front but ran out of laps , and #55 Jarrel takes the win.
