CAM Racing
Hi I am not sure how many are following this track but thought I would share the latest email from them with everyone. we hope to make it there this coming weekend for our first race of the season with them we had a blast there last season ................. and may race all season with them in 2005 Here is the email from them . AS THE RACE TRACK TURNS By Aaron Ort 8/21 Texana Raceway completed it’s third consecutive evening of dirt track racing for the month of August this past Saturday night as over six dozen race teams vied for the coveted “Flag Trick”. Three of the drivers that attempted the feat pulled out with all wins in their respective divisions as the several hundred area race fans witnessed yet another exciting night of action-packed entertainment! With the season end nearing closer night by night, the mayhem begins to wind down to the inner circle of the downward spiral, resulting in an excitement we like to call, “As the race track turns!” The Bomber division had current point’s leader #34 Michael Harp of Inez lengthen his lead on second place position with two wins in the split Heat and Texas Pursuit races while newcomer #19 Randy Seals of Houston claimed the top spot in the other split Heat. Victoria’s #4 Paul Mascorro and Cuero’s #88 Sandra Hudgeons dazzled the crowd with silvers in the Heat races while Mascorro came through with another second place finish in the Texas Pursuit ahead of Victoria’s #81 Michael Wagner in third. The Feature race was upon the class and the front runners all lined up amongst the dozen vehicles entered into the race. #19 Seals charged on front runner #34 Harp for the first part of the race, taking the lead over with 10 laps to go, completing the race in the top spot! Harp secured a second as he piloted his vehicle on Seal’s bumper for the duration of the event ahead of #81 Wagner in third! The other Wagner brother, #18 Martin, found his finish in fourth with Victoria’s #15 Jimmy Blair rounding out the top five in fifth. #8 Scott Turner of Sheridan and Victoria’s #25 Brian Brooks lead the way for the Street Stock division as throughout the evening, both cars remained on the lead front, providing some of the closest racing action ever witnessed upon the 5/16th mile dirt oval! The Heats were split into two because of the number of vehicles signing in to race, with Edna’s #47 G.W. Hessong pulling an impressive victory in the first Heat ahead of #38 Michael Williams (Port Lavaca) who took second. Turner and Brooks held on to each other like glue for the second Heat race, resulting in a one-two finish, respectively! The Texas Pursuit had all drivers come together for an exciting finish as Turner lead the way in the top spot with #47 Hessong securing second ahead of Brooks in third. The Feature witnessed Hessong pull out early with a flat tire and #11 Gary Seals of Humble gasping the audience with a “not so particular” exit off the back stretch as he got caught up with #25 Brooks in a high flying show of metal mayhem! Brooks held on to the structure of his vehicle to pilot his way to the winner’s circle ahead of Turner who valiantly ran lap for lap in a silver obtainment! Victoria’s #2 Brad Hayes took a third ahead of #38 Williams in fourth and Louise’s #95 David Mann in fifth. The Hot Stock Trucks witnessed a dual grudge occur between the #3 truck of Darryl Davis (Victoria) and #4 Sean Hansen (El Campo). Davis entered into the night with a five-point lead on defending champion Hansen, and as both drivers entered onto the track, the intensity was blindly apparent! Davis and Hansen ran lap for lap, stuck on each other’s bumper for the Heat race with Davis claiming victory over Hansen by a few truck lengths! The same result happened later in the Texas Pursuit with Davis taking Hansen who lead Luling’s #8 Neal Rogers for third. The Feature race was about to reel in the capture, as the teams now had to run a perfect twenty-lap race to obtain the checkered. Again, Hansen battled against Davis for the lead of the race, taking the reigns early on and playing a game of chase for the duration. Hansen was able to hold off Davis’s charge, capturing the win with Davis securing second. Inez’s #43 Bob Ort held on to take third with Telferner’s #17 Polly Copeland finishing in fourth and Luling’s #8 Neal Rogers finding fifth. The Super Stock’s battled back with a low car count from the previous two races and provided several of the evening’s thrills and spills! Veteran driver #12 Adam Perks of El Campo capped the evening off with one of the three “Flag Tricks” earned in the evening, capturing both of his races! Perks did not take them as easy as it may sound though as his teammate and running partner, #8 Todd Kidwell (Danevang) ran lap for lap in the Heat race for a second place finish. The Feature race had current point’s leader and defending champion #55 Vince Kacir (Port Lavaca) lead the charge on the front runner, securing second only lengths behind, yet lengths ahead of third place position #8 Kidwell! Edna’s #98 Ricky Zack found his Feature finish to result in fourth with #2 Mike Moseley of Port Lavaca rounding out the top five in fifth. The Limited Late Models witnessed Victoria’s #81 Lawrence West secure his second consecutive “Flag Trick”, winning both of his respective races in high fashion! #27 Kevin Barnhart held on to championship contention with two second place finishes as current points leader, #67 Buck McFarlin (Victoria) breathed easy with two bronze positions. Goliad’s sensation #8 Matthew Konvicka once again dominated the Mini Stock division, winning two impressive races, obtaining his “nth “Flag Trick!” Konvicka was followed by Halletsville’s #69 Cody Tesch who secured two seconds with #7 Nick Moore (Victoria) and #27 Fallon Teague (Port Lavaca) splitting third places in the Heat and Feature races, respectively. #5 Jamie Reha pulled in a fourth place Feature finish with Louise’s #95 Jacob Mann finishing in fifth. Next scheduled race night at Texana Raceway will be Saturday August 28 with a Super Stock Invitational being hosted along with a running of the Pure Stock 200. Texana Raceway is located 2 miles East of Edna on Hwy. 111, left CR 412. dancer52
Thanks Cam racing! We've heard a lot about this track, but haven't been able to make it that way yet.
racin4fun
The Edna track is a blast. The owner is great. He drives with the bomber cars or stock cars what ever they call them there, he drives a Gremllin lol. He is just out there having a blast. Edna really cares about its drivers and has extra stuff for sponsers so the drivers have more to offer them. It is unreal. We are going this weekend too. racin4fun
Edna was a blast last night. We took 3 CC Bombers and went and played in the dirt. Edna is a great track, the owners are so friendly. It is a great place to go for a good time. We had some bad luck but it was fun. One car lost the radiator, the other was a trans and the 3rd car ran all but a few laps of the race but started to over heat, we did not want to push it with only a few races left at our home track. Two of our cars are in the top 10 at CC, one is in 5th the other 6th. The track points champ took first last night #47. We will be running in Edna next season. Hope to see more cars out there. Come join the fun.
