Yale Gains Slight Cushion in Points Standings

By: Pat Mayberry

Texas Super Racing Series points leader, Mike Yale, made the best of his second place run at San Antonio Speedway on Saturday night, expanding his points lead to 41 points. "It's definitely not over yet. Look how much it swings from event to event," acknowledged Yale of the tight points race. "Do we have a little cushion now, yeah, but the last time we ran, it went from a decent little cushion to nothing.

Yale admits the fast surface of SAS is not the best track. "We haven't raced here in almost a year," stated Yale. "I could be better here if we just had more experience here. This is the track TSRS has raced at the

fewest dates."

Lady luck smiled on Yale with the field inversion after a qualifying run that landed him eighth fastest. The first nine cars were inverted so Yale was able to start on the outside of the front row. However, things looked bleak for Yale earlier in the day. During practice, Yale broke a ball joint and experienced several other minor problems.

Only 64 points now separate the top five drivers in the two-year old series. The good run in San Antonio allowed Yale to open a slim margin of 41 points over Brad Hudak. Hudak moved from forth to second in the standings.

Lloyd Alexander fell to third, only 45 point out of the lead. Beau Bukowski fell one spot to forth, 50 points behind Yale and Brian Schild rounds out the top 5 points leaders only 64 points from the top.

The next stop for the MAGNUM Trailers sponsored series Texas Super Racing Series will be September 18th at Corpus Christi Speedway. For more information on series dates or rules please visit the series web site at www.manracingpromotions.com.
