Here it goes

OK folks, here it goes. First let me say how nice it was to see so many from the ROMCO race come to the dirt track "as soon as they could," to catch almost all of the features It was good for all concernecd that ROMCO ran their event in the early part of the so that everyone would have reasonable time to make the switch. I am told that those at the pavement track could hear the open wheel feature at the dirt track almost as if they were next door. It is only fair to make this point in that it has been the norm for which ever of the two tracks finish first, spectators and racers alike go to the other track to see and learn what they can. Ain't racin fun.

Now , on with the stuff. It is a lot easier to post to a forum than to update a web site as well as to make sure the results are accurate. As you may know the dirt track worked long into the weel after their April 5 show to make sure all was correct in the open wheel classes and made any upward payment adjustment in their pay out last Saturday night. I didn't hear of anyone being asked to give any money back and I know some were very pleased to learn of and receive the money the track spent to make it right.

Here are some results.....they are not official as the web site, saratogaspeedway.net is where the only official results should be posted. That is usually done by Wednesday.

Super Coupes....George Bumpers out of San Antonio took the 20 lap feature besting the growing field of ten cars. Quentin Henderson won the first heat and Bob Henderson won the second. This class was the fastest class around the speedway until the second heat of the open wheel cars. It was also nice that the Coupes gave candy to all the kids during the end of the Easter Egg Hunt. Catch the Super Coupes at texassupercoupes.com

Pure Stock....Darian Leonard took the first heat and John Garrett took the second. there were fourteen cars total. Jim Meyers won the feature and was accompanied by Bob Meyers as co pilot in the feature. Garrett finished second in the feature.

Super Stock. The class has grown to 18 cars. Jim Rabie took the first heat and Larry Smith took the second. Mike Flanagan took the feature with Rabie and Tom Carlisle close behind. They ran that way most of the event although Rabie spun out and had to make a come back.

Open Wheel Mods. Lawrence Mikulencak won the feature out running Sreve Majek and Austin Carter. Don't recal who won the second open wheel heat Bret Mc Bride in the Portland Answering Servie/ Burning Desire Candles entry ran his best of the season in line with his sponsors becoming season sponsors at Saratoga.

More stuff...... Rio Grand Speedway made the evening very much fun by contributing a number of tickets as prizes for their Fan Appreciation Night next Saturday as they have added Big Foot 14 to their show as well as upped the winners share in the open wheel modified class for that event to $700 which will no doubt raise the entries and competition level that weekend. There is also no increase in admission. Portland Answering Service and Burning Desire Candles also made a number of nice prizes available to the Easter Egg Hunt and for other contests.

The dirt track will be closed until May 17 because of the Bucaneer Days Parade in which the speedway will have a float. Their float will also appear in the Freer Rattle Snake pared this weekend.

And just to top off the news the late models will be the featured event at the May 24 races at the dirt track with $1000 to win. There is no increase in admission and all classes will compete.

Now again let me make sure you understand. This positing is not official. Always look on the dirt track's web site or call.

On behalf of the Texas Super Coupes, we would like to thank everyone at Saratoga Speedway for all the help and support on our season opener. The track was one of the best we have competed on and we look forward to coming back in the near future. We hope everyone enjoyed the action as much as we enjoyed racing at your great facility. :D
