Alloutpc17
I have a 3 speed trans (saginaw), stock style flywheel and a AP racing 7.25 mini clutch. For some reason when i try to put the trans in, it lacks a 1/2 inch from going all the way in. The throwout bearing is against the pressure plate is why it wont go in. The bearing is the Howe 8288 and should work. I tried other bearings and still get the same results. From the face of the trans where it goes against the bell housing to the end of the throwout bearing (which is on the trans and all the way back) is 3 inches. Now from the bell housing (where the trans bolts up) to the pressure plate is 2 5/8 inches. I'm thinking the AP clutch is thicker or???????????? The clutch measures 2 5/8 from the flywheel to the pressure plate. I've never had this problem. If i had another clutch i would try that but don't. MatKam10
Does the clutch you have require a flexplate instead of a flywheel? my 5.5 uses a flexplate style which is probably about the difference yoyur talking about
Alloutpc17
I have a flexplate. I had contacted AP racing and they said that the set up takes a different bearing.

WaerRacing00
cool In understand your issue. I had the same problem and ruined a brand new clutch...We finally realized it was an alignement issue. We had to get special dow pins made so tranny/plate fit perfectly....fyi
