txtom
Noticed on Jayski's site that H.B. Bailey, formerly of Houston, passed away of heart failure. I fondly remember his bar-be-ques at Texas World Speedway, and he was just a fun dude to be around, definitely a throw-back to the old days of racing. Any of you old Houston racers got a story to share?
sfrebel
my dad was friend's with Burl from way back in the day and even though I was young I still remember going to the race track to see him run, the few times I met him he was a really cool guy
HOUSTONLM04
If I'm not mistaken H.B. Bailey was the first NASCAR driver to qualify at the inaugural Brickyard 400.
NickHolt
Here's a pic from the Nov, 1987, Texas Race of Champions program showing H.B. with some fellow TROC winners. H.B. won the second TROC and was usually seen with a cigar and one version or another of that outback hat. My good friend (I was his suspension dude for many years) Ed Sczech won the first TROC. And guess who Miss TROC was that year! All you TSRS guys should know who that is!
