Tps_55
Is there a special trick to getting the pinion gear out of the rear end? I smacked the end(lightly) after i removed the yoke and it would not come out. Any suggestions would help!!!!!!

jwmbishop
From the link above: Thread the nut back on and hammer towards the rear of the vechicle. The nut will keep you from hacking the threads. Yea IF you are lucky!!! Use a brass rift (or a big peice of brass) on the end of the pinion and hit the rift! Hitting the pinion itself with the hammer will swell the threaded end and make the nut tighter - which will then falsify your torque value on assembly! Tps_55
I have smacked it pretty hard with a hammer, but it doesnt seem to want to move more than like 1/16th of an inch or so. It's almost like there is some kind of clip or something holding it in but i cannot feel anything. May have to try just hitting it with a little bigger hammer. Tps_55
Thanks for the advice guys. I went and used a BIGGER hammer and it finally came out. Now hopefully it all will go bcak together as easily as it came apart.

Rather than momentum transfer it will pull in when you tighten the nut!
