Recommended Posts

Ok the time is coming up on us pretty quick!!!

The Track has been prepped, smoothed, and watered.

We will be running Street Stocks, Hot Stock Trucks, Limited Mods, Modifieds, Late Models.

And let us NOT Forget the ASCS Winged Sprints.

As of the last report, the ASCS Gulf South Region already had 30 registered for this weekend.

With only 20 of them going into the big money A Main event, It's going to be no holds barred

for the heat races and the B-main to qualify for the Big Money race.

This will be one of the most spectacular events we will be putting on this season.

So make the plans to be at Texana Raceway Saturday May 14, 2011 @ 7PM.

General Admission is same price as regular events, as follows.

General Admission $12

Senior Citizen's $10

Children 6-12 $6

Children under 6 - free!

Driver's fees for our regular classes will remain the same.

However Pit Passes WILL be $30.

Thanks so much, and see you Saturday!!

I'm trying to get my Lone Star Speedzone ducks in a row to make this race and do the Umscheid Race Services Live, Interactive Updates from the track. I just need to clear a couple of things with TRP before I can actually commit to being there.

But it does sound like it's going to be a great night and I hope I can make it.

Here is the official ASCS press release about this event at TRP and GTRP this weekend.

ASCS Gulf South Ready for GTRP and Edna

Lonnie Wheatley, TULSA, Okla. (May 9, 2011) – Just one point separates George White and Tommy Bryant in the Smiley’s Racing Products ASCS Gulf South championship points chase as the series gets set for another pair of events this weekend.

On Friday night, the ASCS Gulf South takes to Beaumont’s Golden Triangle Raceway Park for the third time this season. Then, on Saturday night, it’s off to Texana Raceway Park in Edna, TX, for the first of two scheduled stops.

While 17 different drivers have competed in all six ASCS Gulf South events completed thus far in 2011, White and Bryant are the only two drivers that have made the feature cut in all six events. And, with both drivers posting three top-fives and five top-tens, Fort Worth’s White holds a meager one-point edge over Bryant as both vie for a first ASCS Gulf South championship.

Ninety-seven points off the lead pace in third is two-time and defending series champion Ray Allen Kulhanek, with Chris Sweeney just one point ahead of two-time champion Brandon Berryman in the battle for fourth. The balance of the top-ten includes Oklahoma rookie shoe Jeffrey Newell, Travis Elliott, Greg Rilat, Michael McNeil and Channin Tankersley.

After missing the feature in the season opening event at Golden Triangle in March won by Sam Hafertepe, Jr., Kulhanek bounced back at GTRP with his first win of the year on April 15.

With last year’s Edna event rained out, Texana Raceway Park hasn’t hosted an ASCS Gulf South event since 2009 when leading title contenders George White and Tommy Bryant split Fourth of July weekend victory honors.

The Smiley’s Racing Products ASCS Gulf South Region has featured six different winners in as many event thus far in 2011 with those reaching victory lane including Kulhanek, Aaron Reutzel, Jason Johnson, Michael Dupuy, Hafertepe, and Gary Wright.

Friday’s action at Golden Triangle Raceway Park fires off at 8:00 p.m., with Saturday’s green flag at Texana Raceway Park flying at 7:30 p.m.

Golden Triangle Raceway Park is located 9.5 miles west of I-10 on US 90 near Beaumont, TX. For more information, contact the track at 409-752-7200.

The high-banked, 5/16-mile Texana Raceway Park dirt oval is located two miles east of Edna, TX, on SR 111, then left on Haines Road. For more information, contact the track at 361-781-0411.

The Smiley’s Racing Products ASCS Gulf South Region is slated for 28 nights of racing action at eleven different tracks throughout Texas, Louisiana and Mississippi in 2011.

In the middle of a drought ridden Spring for the Rice Belt, today there is a good batch of thunderstorms moving across Edna. This is an answer to many prayers of farmers across the area for some moisture relief, but also the answer to Ken's prayers as well. Rain this afternoon (Thursday) with a small percentage again on Friday morning, moving into no predictions for Friday afternoon and zero for Saturday, will lend a hand to putting some moisture in the ground for the Sprint cars during this exceptionally dry spell which the Ken has been battling this season.

This looks like it could be real good come Saturday!!!!

Hey everyone, the track looks great. Was there this afternoon, loaded the beer and soda coolers, brought in the snacks and food today, we are ready to go. :)

The rain we had yesterday was perfect, the track surface is as good as it gets. And the ASCS Sprints are ready to put on a show!! And what a show it will be!! Talked with them and they asked me to do some things to the track to help them. It is done and they will be super fast. We got some deep moisture in the track now. B)
