NickHolt
Heavy Rain Delays World of Outlaws Sprint Cars at Salina Highbanks Speedway - ‘Battle on the Highbanks’ featuring the Greatest Show on Dirt reset for Tuesday, May 3 Salina, Oklahoma (April 23, 2011) - A huge buzz surrounded the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series inaugural event on Saturday at Salina Highbanks Speedway in Eastern Oklahoma. Unfortunately, Mother Nature had other plans as heavy overnight rainfall saturated the newly re-opened track, forcing track and series officials to delay the event to Tuesday, May 3. "The rains were a heavier than we expected," said World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series Director Carlton Reimers. "Areas of the facility are just unusable today, but we worked with track officials to establish a make-up date." The Outlaws will return to the Highbanks on Tuesday, May 3, following their event on Saturday, April 30, at Tri-State Speedway in Haubstadt, Ind. Joey Saldana continues to be the series points leader after events at Paducah International Raceway and I-55 Raceway were postponed the prior weekend. The Brownsburg, Ind., native is being chased by a trio of former champions as Steve Kinser, Jason Meyers and Donny Schatz rank second through fourth respectively. The series' most recent winner, Jason Sides, rounds out the Top 5 in the tight championship points battle.
