$1,250 potential bonus for Southern SportMod Nationals winner

Boyd, Texas (March 16, 2011) – A newly announced bonus could put as much as an additional $1,250 in the pocket of this year’s Southern SportMod Nationals winner.

On top of a $2,000 share of the feature purse, the winner gets $25 for each of a maximum 50 starts made at IMCA sanctioned point events this season coming into the Friday and Saturday, Sept. 2-3 special for Smiley’s Racing Chassis Southern SportMods at Boyd Raceway.

That matches the bonus to be paid to the winner of the Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod main event at the IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals and makes the Southern SportMod Nationals the highest paying event of the season for either division.

“We anticipate that the cap will be reached by a majority of the drivers competing at this event,” said IMCA Vice President of Operations Brett Root. “The Southern SportMod Nationals has a history of attracting the best drivers in the division and I won’t be surprised to see the winner of the 2011 event take home $3,250.”

The bonus will be mailed from the IMCA home office the week after Super Nationals.

A practice night at Boyd is scheduled for Thursday, Sept. 1. This is the second year of a rotating schedule for the Southern SportMod Nationals, which traveled to Kennedale Speedway Park in 2010 and visits Abilene Speedway in 2012.
