Nine dates for new IMCA Texas Lone Star Series

ABILENE, Texas (Feb. 21) – Four IMCA divisions will take to the track each night of the inaugural Texas Lone Star Series.

Nine dates are on the initial schedule, starting with every IMCA Modified, IMCA Sunoco Stock Car, IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stock and Smiley’s Racing Chassis Southern SportMod event in the Feb. 25-27 Ice Breaker special at Abilene Speedway.

Also on the Lone Star Series schedule are races March 5-6 during the Spring Kick-Off special at Kennedale Speedway Park; March 13 during the Spring Fling special at 281 Speedway in Stephenville; April 17 at Boyd Raceway; May 29 at Heart O’ Texas Speedway in Waco; and July 3 at Texas Thunder Speedway in Killeen.

Modifieds run for shares of a $3,000 point fund, which includes a $600 championship share. Furnishing $1,000 point funds are WCH Engines for the I-Stocks, HDC Race Cars & Fabrication for the Hobbies and Southwest Racing Specialties for the Southern SportMods. Each of those champions earns $250.

Feature purses are to be determined by each track. National and regional bonus points will be given in the Modified, Stock Car and Hobby Stock divisions.

“We wanted to establish criteria for selecting dates that could include all four divisions,” said IMCA Vice President of Operations Brett Root. “Point funds will be disbursed at or following our national awards banquet.”

Series champions also become eligible to compete in their respective race of champions during the IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals or the Southern SportMod Nationals.
