The personable Wimberley, Texas, native competed up front all season in the PASS South Super Late Model series after competing in Texas for several years, first in the Allison Legacy series and then in the Pro Modified division, achieving great success in both divisions. Mitchell won a Pro Modified race at San Antonio Speedway as a 16 year-old rookie in 2006 and in 2007 Mitchell won 3 Pro Modified races and finished second four times in 12 starts at Houston Motorsports Park. Californian driver Matt Scott finished second in the balloting while young Houston-area driver JT Schild took third place honors.
