As far as I know, Bobby Allison came to race at Meyer Speedway twice: He won the NASCAR Grand National Space City 300 on June 23, 1971, and returned on June 24, 1972 for a Sportsman event - I don't remember if it was a special, big purse race or not, but it was a really good night of racing.

Bobby and Phil Cronin ran up front for awhile until they tangled, with others, and both ended up against the wall. Larry Schild was the eventual winner that night.
