Snowball Posted June 11, 2010 Report Share Posted June 11, 2010 In an effort to save teams a little money and level the playing field, there will now be a competition yellow at lap 50. During this yellow, teams will be allowed to change two tires, and they will hold their position. No other tire changes will be alowed unless they have a flat.It is hard for some teams to get a crew together and make it to Pensacola to compete. This will also even things up for the guys that don't have experienced crew guys. The Snowball Derby will continue to have live pit stops as always. This will give racers like Casey Smith, Jr. Niedecken, Wilson, and several others a chance to be more competitive. I am anxious to see how this all turns out. Tim tried to do a four tire race a couple years back, and for the most part everyone rode around at 3/4 throttle, and it was a real snooze fest! The office received many many emails and calls complaining. They try their best to keep both the drivers and fans happy which is always a tough task. Casey19 Posted June 15, 2010 Report Share Posted June 15, 2010 In todays economy for us to continue to come over and race something had to change - We have to leave on Wednesday night - for Thursday practice, Friday race and Sat race - Unless you are paying a crew or team who can commit to taking off work for 2 days - and once you get there lodging and feeding your 5 guys minimum. For 100-lap short track race? Therefore we have to find help over there - and there is only 3 guys we can depend on each and every race. Casey was sick of hearing he had a bad pit - of course he did when you have 3 guys and Busch and Elliott have 7 over the wall - I can assure you the fans would much rather see racing on the track than someone winning because they got out of the pits way before anyone else with 15 to go - and if you are on the same tires you probably will not make those positions up!
