THR to host second "Opening Night" of 2004 season

Even two straight weeks of rainouts can't dampen the enthusiasm at Thunder Hill Raceway (THR) in Kyle.

After Mother Nature washed out the past two weekends of racing, Thunder Hill Raceway announced the celebration of its second "Opening Night" for the 2004 season this coming Saturday (May 8).

"The weather certainly hasn't been a help to us," said THR co-owner/GM Brian Callaway. "We hope our drivers and fans haven't lost their enthusiasm for this season, because we're still looking at this season in a positive light. We've made a lot of changes - both physically to the track, and internally in the front office - and we still expect this to be the best year ever at Thunder Hill Raceway."

"We're pumped up about this weekend at Thunder Hill," stated THR marketing director/announcer Chuck Licata. "We've got Marshall's Traveland sponsoring our night of races this Saturday, so there will be some great giveaways and prizes available to our valued fans. We have a full night of racing on tap - the Texas Pro Sedans, the Allstar Race Truck Series (ARTS) and the Lonestar Legends will join the A-Line Auto Parts Street Stocks and the Capital City Trade & Technical School Hobby Stocks for some great on-track action. The CCTT Hobby Stocks, in fact, will run a 30-lap feature race this Saturday night."

Licata added, "We're proud to have Marshall's Traveland on board with us this weekend. Matt Wilkerson and the crew from Marshall's were excited about our idea of a second 'Opening Night' celebration and they have pledged their efforts to reward our fans and drivers for their patience with Mother Nature. I think everyone involved with the local racing scene is chomping at the bit to get out and race."

Wilkerson will be the Grand Marshall for this Saturday's event at THR. The celebrity race originally scheduled for May 1 will be rescheduled for a future date.

Races are held at THR every Saturday night from March through the end of September. Rain has washed out

three nights of racing so far this season.
