It has been 35 years since NASCAR has visited Houston. "This is such a prestigious event," said series founder, Mary Ann Naumann. "Everyone with the Texas Super Racing Series is very proud for Graham, David Baker, Steve Turner & their families to have accomplished the signing of this agreement with NASCAR." If the season opener is an indicator for what race fans will see this year, the race for the championship will be a hotly contested battle every week. Houstonian, Mike Yale, currently stands on the top step of the point's race after winning the season opening race at Corpus Christi Speedway. "We still need to change the gears and a couple of springs," said Yale about what he still needs to do in preparation for the Houston race. "We don't have much left to do to be ready for Houston." Several teams tested at Houston Motorsports Park in April lead by series regular Jamie Fuller, who finished second in the season opener. Houston Motorsports Park has become a very fast and competitive track because of the new racing surface installed last year. At last September's Space City 125, Texas Super Racing Series drivers found passing easier than before and gave fans the most exciting finish in series history with a spectacular photo finish. "I can't say enough about the Houston track. The Baker family is outstanding to work with," added Naumann, "Each of our incredible Drivers/Car Owners & Crews has the desire to be apart of this exciting weekend of racing!"
