Marshall’s Traveland Night, Zone racers highlight Saturday night racing at Thunder Hill Raceway

Fans will get treated to prizes and a Grand Stocks race featuring KVET-AM 1300, “The Zone” personalities this Saturday night (May 1st) at Thunder Hill Raceway.

Marshall’s Traveland of Buda, a sponsor at Thunder Hill Raceway (THR) since the track opened in 1998, will be giving out a variety of take-home prizes – such as T-shirts, cozies and Frisbees as well as a table-top gas grill. Matt Wilkerson of Marshall’s Traveland will be featured as the night’s Grand Marshall.

The night will be highlighted by races in THR’s own classes – the A-Line Auto Parts Street Stocks and the Capital City Trade & Technical School Hobby Stocks – as well as races by the Dwarf Car Association.

There will also be a 10-lap race (nicknamed The Motorsports Zone 500) to be run in THR’s Grand Stock class featuring talk-show personalities from The Zone. Schedules to run in the race are Erin Hogan (co-host of “The Buck on Sports”), Kevin Dunn and Brian Jones (“The Afternoon Show”), Chuck Licata (“The Motorsports Zone”) and KVET-AM Program Director Chuck Meyer. They’ll all take the steering wheel of Grand Stock class cars at intermission for a 10-lap, “grudge” race.

Kids’ Bike Races are also scheduled to be held on Saturday night. All children aged 4 and older who come out to Thunder Hill are welcome to bring their bikes and helmets and participate in bicycle races held on the track. THR management stresses that all children who participate in the bike races must wear a helmet.

Thunder Hill Raceway is a 3/8-mile asphalt oval track that has been the home to Central Texas stock car racing since 1998. It is located at exit 210 (the Yarrington Road exit) off IH-35 in Kyle, TX, just 20 minutes south of Austin and five minutes north of San Marcos.
