ROMCO--the early report

Hey gang..

Just got back walking through the ROMCO garage....the cars are going through tech right now..remember, practice/qualifying is from 2:30-3:30 (more on that in a minute)...here are some notes..

First-timers at TMS in the ROMCO this year include:

67--Kirby Caldwell, Beaumont

70--Sonny Hunt, Houston

35--Greg Davis, Waxahachie

6--Bob Garwood, Kingwood (he actually ran a practice lap with ROMCO at TMS a couple years ago, apparently didn't make it to the race)

Among those who had checked in:

J.C. Umscheid

Greg Davidson

Doug Hoooks

Dan Leatherman (Muskogee, OK)

Kenny Bumbera

Brandon Bendele

Some of the talk in the garage centered around drivers and teams finding

"drafting" partners for practice..here's why:

QUALIFYING WILL BE AS SUCH:

The teams/drivers who register the Top 10 times in practice will DRAW for the Top 10 starting positions for Friday's race..The fastest qualifier will draw first, etc..so, theoretically, the 10th-fastest driver COULD start on the Pole for the race..make sense?

The 11th-thru-20th fastest drivers will draw for starting positions 11-20 for Friday night's race...The 21st-thru-30th fastest will draw for starting positions 21-30 for the race, and so on..

At last word, there were 32 cars expected for Friday's race...

More later...
