Military Appreciation to highlight Sunbelt Rentals SUPR Late Model Shootout at the Speedway

 

Houston Raceway Park, home to the O’Reilly Auto Parts Speedway Series, will honor the men and women of the United States Armed Forces, during its annual Military Appreciation Day at the racetrack. The green flag is set to wave for the Sunbelt Rentals SUPR Late Model Shootout presented by O’Reilly Auto Parts and Lee College, Saturday, August 22nd, at 7:00pm. Spectator gates will open at 6:00pm.

 

This high octane Military Appreciation Day will pay tribute to our heroes for the selfless sacrifice they have made for our country’s freedom. All active and retired Military personnel will receive complimentary admission into the event. “Racing is synonymous with freedom, and freedom is synonymous with our U.S. Military, so we could not think of a better way to recognize our heroes than at our Speedway,” said Gary Swearengin, HRP’s Speedway Director.

 

The first 500 fans through the spectator gate will receive a complimentary checkered flag to commemorate their visit to the Speedway. Additionally, one lucky race fan will win the role as Honorary Starter for the night, and have the opportunity to wave the green flag in the flag stand for the SUPR Late Model A-Main, the night’s feature race. The Baytown Ford Thunder Bombers and Classic Dwarfs are also scheduled to compete on the night’s racing line-up.

 

Fans will also be able to walk through the manufacturer/vendor midway or visit the souvenir shops. Kids can jump in one of three moonwalks, and everyone can enter for a chance to win cash prizes and select Official Houston Raceway Park merchandise, in our 50/50 charity drawing benefiting MD Anderson Cancer Center.

 

Houston Raceway Park's O'Reilly Auto Parts Speedway Series features four classes of racing every Saturday night March through October on our ¼ high-banked dirt oval: Baytown Ford Thunder Bomber, VP Racing Fuels Limited Modified, UMP Modified, and the Crate Late Models.

 

Houston Raceway Park is located 25 miles east of downtown Houston off Interstate-10. Take Exit #799 (SH 99 Grand Parkway) and go South to FM 565 (1st exit). Take a right at FM 565 and Houston Raceway Park is located on your right side. The Speedway entrance is located at Gate 3.
