Big G Smith Posted June 29, 2009 Report Share Posted June 29, 2009 The #17 Green Machine has posted the fastes lap at every NasKart feature this season. But the highly coveted First place finish was not to be until Last night at Thunder Hill. Richard was drafting with Lyndon Kirk and they ran away from the field. They were almost a lap ahead of everyone else. Then came the mandatory competition yellow on lap 15. That bunched the field back up. But now their is a new twist. The NasKarts now do restarts like their big brothers NASCAR. They start 2 wide instead of single file. This put Richard on the outside row. In NasKart Racing, the inside line is the perfered line. Needless to say, as the race continued when the green came back out, Richard went from 2nd to 8th in about 1 lap . He got hung out on the outside and by the time their was a hole to drop down he was way back in the field. Fortunatly, Thunderhill has given the Naskarts a longer race for their main and Richard had some time to play catch up By lap 20 he was back up to the leaders running in third. He was able to get by Lyndon as Lyndon was fighting for the lead with Chris Terry's #24. After moving into 2nd place Richard was on the rear bumper of Chris and Lyndon was right behind Richard. It was some On the last lap going down the back strech, Rchard goes high to pull up along side of Chris. About that time Lyndon gives Richard a big bump and as they going through turns 3 and 4. Richard has momentum to get by Chris. Lyndon is still behind Richard, pushing them both ahead of Chris to give Richard the win and Lyndon a second place finish.
