Daggett Does It Again in ASCS SOD Action at I-96

LAKE ODESSA, Mich. (June 6, 2009) - Dustin Daggett continued his domination of Engine Pro ASCS Sprints on Dirt presented by ARP competition at I-96 Speedway. The win was Daggett’s fourth of the season and fifth in a row in ASCS SOD competition at the Lake Odessa half-mile oval in the Mott Motorsports Gaerte powered Maxim Chassis.

Daggett ran down early leader Gregg Dalman in lapped traffic and held on through numerous restarts for the victory. “The car got a lot better after the restart,” said Daggett. “After that the car really took off.”

Dalman started on the pole and beat Joe Bares into the first corner into the lead. Dalman held the top spot until Daggett made up ground on the field during restarts. After moving four spots on the initial start Daggett the red flag appeared on lap six when Andy Teunessen crashed into a marker tire and light pole in the infield. Teuenessen emerged uninjured.

Dalman pulled away on the restart while Daggett moved up from fourth to second in one lap. Dalman continued to hold the advantage until moving into lapped traffic. Dalman held the advantage until a slight hesitation on lap 13 in turn four allowed Daggett to take away the low side of the track and the top position.

Daggett continued to lead until a scary incident on lap 18 when Joe Bares steering locked up and he flipped off the end of the race track in turn one. Bares emerged from his car under his own power.

From there Daggett continued to show his prowess on restarts pulling away from the field to win the feature over Dalman, Tim Norman, Dain Naida, and Ben Rutan after a late race charge from 17th starting position.

Dalman, Norman, and Jared Horstman won heat race events, Daggett took the victory in the fast Engine Pro ASCS Sprints on Dirt presented by ARP
