Thunder Hill Hosting Barbecue to Boost Driver Points Fund

Kyle -- Thunder Hill Raceway and Circle Track Smokers will boost the 2004 THR driver points fund with a donation-only barbecue at the track on Friday, March 26, the afternoon and evening before the season opener at THR, track co-owners Jim Lynch and general manager Brian Callaway announced today. Barbecue will be available all day (starting at noon) for donations to the drivers' points fund, with the money added to the $15,000.00 the track has committed to the fund.

Circle Track Smokers is a competitive cooking team headed by racer Joey Smith, whose slogan is, "We'll smoke you on and off the track.“ The team is competing this week at the Star of Texas Fair and Rodeo in Austin.

"We want to show our drivers – who work very hard to help us put on our weekly Saturday night show – that we’re committed to raising as much money as we can for their championship points fund,” said Callaway. “Drivers and fans can make a donation and get a great barbecue dinner. This is just one of the ways we plan to raise money for the points fund.”

“This is Jim and Brian showing their commitment to Thunder Hill's drivers this season,” said marketing director and announcer Chuck Licata. "Remember, they already announced the points fund would start the season at $15,000.00. It’s a great way to help raise money for the drivers fund before the season even starts, and it isn’t just for Thunder Hill drivers and fans. The public and the ROMCO drivers and fans who will be at the track that day are also invited.”

The track and Circle Track Smokers do ask that anyone who plans on taking part please make a reservation so they'll know how much food to prepare. Your RSVPs can be e-mailed to thraceway@hotmail.com or called in to the race track recording at (512) 262-1352.

Hey Nick,

Why don't we get this event posted on the THR website? This is our best communication tool with the public and we should use it. Let them know about the Barbeque and that there will be free admission to the stands. By the way, put me down for a plate. See you Friday.

Greg
