New Ford Racing awards for IMCA Modified, Stock Car drivers

DEARBORN, Mich. (May 29) – Drivers in the IMCA Modified and IMCA Sunoco Stock Car divisions with a Ford-manufactured powerplant under the hood are in the running for new contingency awards this season.

Eligible drivers in either class winning a regional championship in 2009 pocket $1,000 cash prizes. Sign-up forms for the program can be downloaded from the www.imca.com website and must be mailed to the IMCA home office by Aug. 1.

Display of two Ford Racing decals and a driver’s uniform patch is also required.

Ford-powered drivers also chase bonuses for top three finishes in Saturday night main events at the IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals.

A Modified or Stock Car championship would be worth an additional $1,000, while second place would pay $500 and third place would be good for $250.

"We are really excited to have Ford back on board after an extended absence and hope our Ford drivers will take advantage of their renewed relationship,” IMCA Marketing Director Kevin Yoder said. “Modified and Stock Car sign-up forms have been updated on our website and I encourage everyone participating with a Ford engine to let us know.”

“Through the interest and support of IMCA racers,” he added, “I am confident we can get the program to expand and target more drivers in the near future."

Ford was most recently an IMCA sponsor, for the Modified division, during the 2000 season. More information about the Ford Racing program is available from Yoder at 319 472-2201.

“Ford Racing is exciting to be reunited with IMCA and all of its great racers,” said Ford Sportsman Circle Track Racing Program Manager Mike Delahanty. “We recognize that weekly grassroots racing is the foundation upon which Ford built its rich racing heritage.”
