PRESS RELEASE 3/29/2009 - BOYETT HORSEPOWER RACING

Gavin Boyett in the #08 TSRS Allison Legacy chalked up a hard earned 2nd place finish last night in the rough-and-tumble TSRS Allison race at Thunderhill Raceway in Kyle. After a long hard year of hard-knocks lessons, Boyett Horsepower Racing welcomes the thought of the car coming off the trailer under it's own power this morning. After last weeks "can-opener" effect on the #08, the car came out this weekend with the addition of band-aid graphics. Appraently our graphics person has come out sporting her sense of humor early in the racing season.

The race, which was ended in lap 49 after a monster pile-up in turn 2, was won by the #24 driven by Kris Kerr, who ran a flawless race. Everyone at Boyett Horsepower Racing extends their congratulations to Kris and crew.

Charles Evans, Jr. gave Kerr a run for his money several times for the lead, but in the end was left to fight for 2nd with Boyett. With a spin out between Boyett and Evans in the beginning of lap 50, the field piled up behind the two and collected a big part of the field and left scoring to be moved back to the completion of lap 49. In the end, 2nd and 3rd place were awarded to Boyett and Evans in that order,

With the motor from the #07 blown and on it's way to North Carolina, Crew Chief Chad Malin was freed up to help Boyett to his finish on the radios. Rusty Mirth helped coach dad, Tony Boyett, through set-up changes from out of town via cell-phone and then enjoyed play-by-play commentary of the race over the air waves from Boyett's mom, Gretchen. It's all a team effort over at Boyett Horsepower Racing, but we can't figure out why our crew is fishing and hanging out at the coast on race day. Appraently, it's works though!!

Tech, though an extensive process, was ran professionally by the Thunderhill crew. Thanks to everyone at Thunderhill for their hospitality and support of the series. We'll see everyone at the next race on April 25th.
