As the counter on the Texana front page (texanaracewaypark.org) indicates, the days, minutes and seconds are counting down to opening night on March 28th at the exciting Texana Raceway Park.

In preparation for the big season opener, teams will have two practice opportunities. The first opportunity is this Saturday, March 14th. The second opportunity will be March 21st. This Saturday the 14th, the gates will open at 2pm and practice will be from 6pm to 10 pm. Call before you haul on Saturday if weather is questionable.

While the practice sessions are always a great opportunity for everyone to get their rides dialed in, the real excitement is building up to opening night.

The season opener on March 28th will also serve as the Aaron Hudgeons benefit race night. Be sure to mark your calendar for this special night. The program for this year's season opener will be as follows:

Draw ending at 6pm.

Drivers meeting at 6pm

Opening Ceremonies at 7pm

(will consist this year of recognition of 2008 Track Champions, 2008 Favorite Drivers, 2008 Rookie of the Year, and 2008 Most Improve Award Winners in the infield, dedication of night to Aaron Hudgeons and his battle against cancer, and concluded with an all driver parade laps / salute to the fans).

The track will have some items to give out to the fans as we kick-off the opening ceremonies.

Racing will start at 7:30 pm or immediately following opening ceremonies.

As previously posted, this year Texana will be utilizing the Raceceiver system for all classes except Hot Stock Trucks and the Jr. Mini-Stocks. The driver's Raceiver hardware is planned to be available for purchse starting this Saturday, the 14th.

The payouts used in 2008 will be in effect for 2009, which includes $600 to win in Limited Modifieds and $800 to win in Modifieds at each regular season event. The entire Texana payout is available on the Texana website under "drivers area".

As the clicker counts down to the kick-off to the 2009 season, Jackson county readies itself for the highest fan attended regularly scheduled event in the county!!!

How much are the raceceivers going to cost? Are they the model with the ear plug to block outside noise?

I'll need to make contact with the track owner and let you know. May be Saturday before i have the info for you as I will be out of pocket the next couple of days. thx - Monty

The Raceceivers are in. The track will have the latest version, the Y1600 Elite, along with the better 90 degree foam insert earbuds. The track will have the raceceiver and earbud package for $115. There is no requirement to purchase this directly from the track if someone would prefer to purchase elsewhere. It can be purchased from the manufacturer or other outlets, but the cheapest I've found for new product elsewhere is $125, and the earbuds are not as high quality as the ones the track chose.

As a reminder, this is the same product HRP will be using this year, USMTS uses and other tracks are considering to use. It is pretty universal and can be used most anywhere. As a side note, they can be used to listen in by fans or others if someonone would find that of use, but it will not be as entertaining as NASCAR as this is one-way communication to the drivers.

The track will have these available at practices and thereafter.

thx - Monty
