Press Release – For Immediate Release

Date: February 23, 2004

Contact: Chase Stapp, Stapp Racing

Subject: San Marcos stock car racing team gears up for another run at a championship title.

March 27, 2004 will begin the 2004 racing season at Thunder Hill Raceway in Kyle, Texas. This modern racing venue offers some of the best Saturday night stock car racing in Texas to race fans in the Hill Country and Austin areas.

Stapp Racing has been competing in the Street Stock class at the 3/8 paved oval stock car track since the track opened in 1998 just South of Kyle. The 2003 season brought the local racing team its first points championship and third top 5 points finish since that time. Chase Stapp, the crew chief and team manager for the team credits a few dedicated sponsors and the extreme dedication of the team as key factors in claiming the championship.

The San Marcos based team was sponsored in 2003 by Wright Distributing Company (Miller Lite), Smith Appliance, and San Roc Signs and Graphics. Kaycee Concrete Construction of Canyon Lake also joins the team as a key sponsor for the 2004 season. The team is still in need of another sponsor for the 2004 season.

The talent behind the wheel of the winning race car is Cary Stapp, a life long San Marcos resident who makes his living as a Journeyman Electrician in Austin, Texas. Cary has already set his sights on the 2004 championship, citing the fact that no Street Stock team has yet to win the title twice. The team has held the track record for the fastest lap around the D-shaped oval in the Street Stock class since the 2001 season.

Ed Stapp, the father of Chase and Cary, attributes the success of the race team to the hard work of everyone involved in the family sport.

Stapp Racing will unveil a new paint scheme for the 2004 race season at the March 27 opening race, and the team hopes to see the Thunder Hill raceway stands packed for that event.
