Opening Night to Benefit Aaron Hudgeons

Texana Raceway Park will be dedicating opening night on March 28th as a benefit event for Mr. Aaron Hudgeons.

 

There is hardly a racer across south Texas who does not know Aaron and what he has done for many. Aaron is owner and driver of the #10 Limited Modified and #10 Modified.

 

Aaron was recently diagnosed with cancer and is preparing for a series of intensive treatments. While we are all positive and optimistic about the results the treatments will yield, this rigorous treatment schedule will be very demanding on Aaron and his family, both emotionally and financially. Anyone who knows Aaron or has competed with him knows just how much he and the entire Hudgeons family have contributed over the years to help others, and to racing across south Texas overall. The family has been a tremendous contributor to many of the childrens events at Texana Raceway Park including being one of the major contributors each year to the annual bicycle give-away.

 

We will be publizing additional information on this event as the days draw closer. At present, we are planning three key elements for the night:

First, we will pass the helmet through the grandstands with all collections being contributed to help offset some of the treatment expenses.

Second, Texana Raceway Park will be making a direct monetary contribution to this effort on opening night.

Third, we will provide the opportunity for any racer to dedicate their pay envelope for that night to this effort to help offset expenses. We just ask that racers think about this and ask yourself, "what would Aaron do if it was me?"

 

As we would with any opening, we would like love to see a good car count, but more especially for this night on behalf of Aaron.

 

Also, if you cannot make opening night and would like to make a contribution to help offset the treatment expenses, Texana Raceway Park will be accepting donations on behalf of the Hudgeons family. Please send check, cashiers check, or money order (no cash please) to:

Even though opening night is a little over two months away, we wanted to get this announcement out early for planning and in hopes that many can attend this benefit, tied with opening night on March 28th. Should weather be an issue for opening night, we will carry this benefit forward to the next scheduled race night. More news to come as opening night draws closer...
