Here's the story from the 5 Flags Speedway website

+++++++++++++++++

Mark Chrudimsky took advantage of a battle for second place to pull away and win the 40-lap Modified feature.

Chrudimsky led a four-car train over the final 12 laps with Todd Jones, Chris Cotto and Tuffy Hudson. After Cotto failed to get underneath Jones, he tried on the outside for two laps, finally taking over second on Lap 37. Hudson then slipped past Jones.

That allowed Chrudimsky to pull away and Cotto couldn’t catch him.

A caution flag kept Chrudimsky from losing the lead earlier in the race.

Jones was trying to get past him for several laps when he got Chrudimsky loose coming out of Turn 4. Jones took the lead, but the caution came out before the lap was complete, so Chrudimsky retained the lead.

“The car wasn’t bad, but I had to dig down deep,” he said.

The polesitter, Brett Hansen, never got to start when he had to go into the pits when his car started leaking oil on the warmup laps.

Bill Melvin took over the pole and jumped out into the lead ahead of Chrudimsky. But Melvin’s engine shut down on Lap 15.

Cotto started last in the 14-car field when he arrived at the track late and missed qualifying.

“We struggled to get our motor ready today,” Cotto said.

Kenny Bullard led all 20 laps to take the Bomber feature.

Daniel Webber was second and Pete Kitchen, who had already clinched the points title, was third.
