Waco Racer
Jr.’s first race of the season is this Saturday at noon. He will be racing in the 24 hours at Daytona with buddies Tony Stewart, Jimmie Johnson, Robby Gordon, and Kyle Petty. Also racing in this event are some IRL and road racing stars that you might recognize from all around the world. If you will remember back in 2001 the Earnhardts raced in the 24 with the Corvette team. That was only the second time I ever cheered for Dale Sr. The interviews with him at that race showed a man just having fun racing without his NASCAR nasty attitude. Plus, he was just as fast as the regular Corvette drivers, which proved to me that he was truly a great racecar driver. There are a couple of Texas drivers racing in the 24. George Robinson, owner of the 74 Ranch Resort in South Texas, will be in the #7 Daytona Prototype, Dr. Steve Earle, from San Antonio, will be in the #33 Maserati GT car, Forest Barber, from Ft. Worth, will be in the #54 Daytona Prototype, and the #86 Porsche has 4 drivers from the Houston area. So, turn on Speed this Saturday through Sunday, see some cars with great curves, watch the first race of Speedweeks, and see Daytona from a different perspective. Waco Racer
I hope that some of you watched at least part of the 24, otherwise you missed a great race. The race was decided in the last half hour when the car Tony Stewart was driving finally broke, he was driving it around, maintaining the lead, with only 3 corners of the suspension working.
