NickHolt
JAMES BUESCHER LABOR DAY WEEKEND RECAP Mansfield Motorsports Park / DuQuoin State Fairgrounds USAR Hooters Pro Cup Series / ARCA RE/MAX Series August 30-September 1, 2008 HARD NIGHT GREETS BUESCHER AT MANSFIELD MANSFIELD, Ohio (August 30, 2008) – The first race of the USAR Hooters Pro Cup Series’ four-race championship playoff was a welcome site for James Buescher, who had been unable to contend for the sanction’s Southern Division title due to scheduling conflicts. With a pristine record in Pro Cup competition in 2008, the 18-year-old had his eye set on a national title. At Mansfield Motorsports Park , Buescher qualified his No. 84s Turner Motorsports entry 12th with a time of 16.749 seconds. A promising night gave way to a string of struggles. First, Buescher was given a rough driving penalty after a lap 110 accident and sent to the rear of the field. Then, on lap 151, he and rookie Tyler Young tangled in turn three, encountering damage to his machine. Buescher would nurse the car home to a 23rd place finish, six laps off eventual winner Benny Gordon’s pace. BUESCHER SCORES TOP-TEN IN THE DUQUOIN DIRT DUQUOIN, Ill. (September 1, 2008) – ARCA’s Labor Day tradition of racing around the dirt oval of the DuQuoin State Fairgrounds was a first for James Buescher, making his second career dirt ARCA start for WinTron Racing. Echoing a theme from earlier in the weekend, Buescher clocked in as the 12th fastest qualifier with a lap of 33.832. The lap would serve as a precursor to the race which saw Buescher and No. 32 machine battle from the tenth to fifteenth positions for the majority of the race. Buescher led five laps during the 100-lap contest after electing to stay out during a round of pit stops. While leading would be the highlight of his day in the dirt, Buescher made a late race push to score a ninth place finish – his best showing in ARCA competition in 2008. “For the most part, this was a frustrating weekend,” said Buescher. “ Mansfield was a let-down and we didn’t run particularly well [at DuQuoin]. It was a relief to finish in the top ten but we just never got a good setup squared away. It was a good effort by the Turner and WinTron teams and I thank them for that but we need to make sure that we end 2008 on a strong note.” UP NEXT FOR JAMES James Buescher will make his first career start at Chicagoland Speedway this Saturday in ARCA RE/MAX Series competition for WinTron Racing. Buescher took part in an open test two weeks ago in preparation for the event. For more on James Buescher, logon to www.jamesbuescher.com.
