BUESCHER FINDS PODIUM AT BRISTOL

Bristol, TN (August 25, 2008) – James Buescher’s day could have been over on the first lap. Ditto for lap 18 and lap 27.

A few spectacular crashes highlighted the USAR Hooters Pro Cup Series’ visit to Thunder Valley, but Buescher’s day ended with a television interview – as a result of a third place finish, his third top-five finish in six Pro Cup Series races this year.

The one-day show was a stout one for Buescher and his No. 84s Turner Motorsports entry. Buescher was the 13th fastest qualifier in time trials, courtesy of a lap of 15.931 seconds and lined up 15th due to USAR rules, moving all Southern Division drivers to the inside row and Northern Division drivers to the outside row.

Buescher’s race would become quickly eventful. He avoided a big multicar accident on the race’s first lap, as well as follow up accidents on laps 18 and 27. After the first caution, he pitted for new tires and prepped for running the duration of the race without a stop.

By lap 42, Buescher was running 7th. At the halfway mark, he had climbed into the top five.

With 50 laps to go, Buescher was running fourth when he caught the third place car, setting him up for a final restart with 12 to go. He held on easily to third place position, earning his fifth top-ten finish of 2008.

“This was great run for us,” said Buescher. “I don’t think we were going to catch [race winner Caleb Holman] but we had a strong car all day and closed the deal with a good finish.

“The pit strategy worked, we almost got wrecked about three or four times which almost gave me a heart attack, but we got through all of them. I had a lot of fun and now, I can’t wait for Mansfield .”

A STRONG 2008 – BUESCHER’S PRO CUP STARTS

While scheduling didn’t allow for James Buescher to compete for the Southern Division championship in the USAR Hooters Pro Cup Series, his 2008 outings have been impressive. He’s earned five top-ten finishes in six races:

March 15 – Lakeland , Fla. : Started 16th / Finished 3rd

March 29 – Cecil , Ga. : Started 21st / Finished 9th

April 26 – Concord , N.C. : Started 3rd / Finished 20th

May 31 – West Allis , Wisc.: Started 40th / Finished 7th

August 2 – Hickory , N.C. : Started 14th / Finished 5th

August 20 – Bristol , Tenn. : Started 15th / Finished 3rd
