racer-x
I'm new to the website but I googled Bluebonnett Speedway a while back and saw where y'all had talked about it. My dad and I went there every saturday night in the early 70's. It was in the Whiskey Flatts community off of hwy 377. I remember Bobby Tolsdorf, Wild Bill Tolsdorf, Robert Burrows, Don Tammen, James Pack, Ray Blohm, Etc. Bobby Tolsdorf first raced for my dad when he was 18. That was about 1954 or 55. They raced at the old Riverside Speedway. The Mansfield Raceway was owned by Grady Smith. I still see his son George walking around at Cowtown every now and then. It did try to make a comeback in 1982. I went out there when I was helping Claud Estes. It's nice to hear about this piece of my childhood! racer-x
Yeah, I just talked to Ray last week. As a kid I pitted for him at Sportsdrome and some of the TROC races at TWS. Hard to believe he is 70.
racevw112
Here is the link to a view of the track that you are talking about that is in Whiskey Flatts. BlueBonnet I went by the Old BlueBonnet a couple of years ago and you could still see part of the wall and a light pole or two. Where was the track in Mansfield located? 97car
If I remember right it was west of 287 on 157 on the south side of Mansfield.
racer-x
If I remember right it was west of 287 on 157 on the south side of Mansfield. I looked up the address for Grady Smith which was who owned it. He lived on the property. The address for him is 14132 County Road 515 Venus, Tx 76084. I looked it up on yahoo and it does look close to where I thought it was. It is off of 157 south and west of 287 just like the 97car said.
racevw112
Here is the satellite view of the address given for the Mansfield track. I cannot make out a track design, maybe torn down too long ago. Mansfield Aerial It ran from 1965 to about 1972 and then again in 1982. Then it was torn down in the mid 80's. 97car
It is the trailer park you see now, the last time I saw where the track was that is what it was about to become.
