Close Competition Seems to be the Rule

 

In 2007, Texana Raceway Park experienced an almost unheard of precedence. No repeat winners in the Modified division for 2007.

 

In 2008, it looks like competitors in all classes have a shot at the win on any given night. But, a few classes took special note in the "no repeat winner" theory and have turned on the heat. Throw out the opening night rain-out and there are three of the seven classes that have yet to see a repeat winner.

 

In the closely competitive and heart-warming Mini Stock division, there has been a different winner each night. Each of the teens in the class are becoming contendors, improving their skills and before seasons end we could see several more names on top of the winners chart. At present, Zach Tesch, Jason Bloom and Garrett Hayes have all tasted victory in 2008.

 

In the impressive and closely matched Bomber Division, there has also been no repeat winner thus far in the season. While the season is still young, it is clear that there are more potential winners waiting. Thus far, Moore, Seals, Bennett and Shafer have tasted victory, but Kacir, Champion, McBride, Hudgeons, Wagner, 2007 champion Mills, and a long list of others are right there within striking distance. This looks like the most closely matched field in years. This one is going to be exciting to see for the remainder of the season. Compliments to all of the teams on car preparation and awesome racing for the fans.

 

And, in direct comparison to last year, it looks like the Modified division may see a different winner each night again this year. To date, Paul White, Nick Hardcastle, Jesse Manning and Dale Flanagan have taken the $800 winners money, but there is still a lot of good competition in the field. Names such as Armstrong, Mikulencak and others are right there.

 

Again, most all classes have some very close competition and it will be exciting to see the season continue to unfold.
