ChuckLicata
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE April 26, 2008 Contact: K-MAC Sports, 512.219.1090 Heath Stewart grabs second straight TSRS pole By Chuck Licata (Kyle, TX) Heath Stewart (Del Valle, TX), winner of last week’s 2008 Texas Super Racing Series (TSRS) late models season-opening race, grabbed the pole for tonight’s TSRS 75-lap feature race. Stewart outdueled Brian Moczygemba (San Antonio) and 14-year-old Jake Kruger (Bastrop) for the provisional pole for tonight’s race. Stewart ran a first-lap time of 15.670 seconds on the 3/8th-mile asphalt track then pushed his #1 Southside Wrecker Chevrolet Monte Carlo to a second-lap time of 15.348. What's scary is that Stewart ran faster than he thought he would. "I didn't think I'd get down into the (15)30s," Stewart said afterwards. "But the crew did a great job making adjustments from last week (when he won the Allstate Texas Thunder 50). The car handles much better and the rear suspension is much better than last week. I"m a lot more confident and a lot more confident running the car this week." Stewart added, "The car takes a lap or two to get going, that’s why we had the faster of the laps on the second lap. That's the way it was last week, too, but again, the car - overall - is a lot better than last week. The track was better in qualifying than practice, just because there was more grip on the track." The top five in qualifying for tonight's 75-lap feature race is Stewart, Moczygemba (San Antonio), Kruger (Bastrop), Chris Schild (Leander, 15.568), Robert Barker (Boerne, 15.586) and Bobby Teer, Jr. (Comfort, 15.609).
