Evan Jackson wins Snowflake

Snowball

Evan jackson who runs the Sunoco super Series from Indiana won the Snowflake 100.

In a crazy finish, Evan Jackson went from 3rd to 1st on the last lap.Scott Hantz and Scott carlson got together on the last lap(Make that Carlson took Hantz out!)while battling for 4th.When the wreck happened, 2nd place Paul Kelley slowed, and Jackson passed him for what appeared to be 2nd. John Wilkinson 111 was dq'd after the race for what the officials said was jumping the start.(they are supposed to start between 2 lines marked on the wall) It was a green white checkered finish.Unfortunately the race was not very good with one caution after the other. I think there was only one stretch of about 18 laps without a yellow. The fans and drivers alike all did not agree with the DQ.John Boy had basically dominated the whole race.Anyway, Evan Jackson should be congratulated on an outstanding run. To show up at Pensacola and basically be battling for 2nd place on his first trip here is pretty awsome. Those Sunoco guys are tough! last year Scott Hantz came down and also impressed. I think Hantz has a good shot in the Derby tomorrow. I don't have the full rundown. From what I remember, both Greg Davidson and T Wade Welch were involved in accidents.

Mark Chrudimsky was the top Texas finisher in the Snowflake 100 Saturday night, finishing on the lead lap in eighth spot. Greg Davidson was 14th, one lap down (104 laps were run, apparently due to the green-white-checkered finish). H. E. Naumann, Jr. was 28th, credited with 57 laps, but no word on why he didn't finish. T. Wade Welch was 33rd with 35 laps, also no word on what happened to Welch. Apparently 37 cars started the Snowflake.

T. Wade and Chris Davidson are in the Snowball (Welch starting 24th and Chris 27th), with Casey Smith and Bubba Naumann starting 31st and 32nd after being fastest of the second round qualifiers. Casey's time would have put him ninth if he had done it Friday; Bubba would have started 14th, right behind Freddie Query. (Shoulda, coulda, woulda...)

Still, four Texans in the Snowflake and four in the Snowball. Not too bad. Good job, everyone, and good luck to all the guys tomorrow.

My son and I met Mark Chrudminsky and his Dad at Houston last year during the ASA race. We were thrilled when he done so well in the Snowflake. You could tell Mark was overjoyed in his results by the way he was beaming after the race in the pits. Congrats to Mark and his family. Hope to see you back next year.
