NickHolt
Whatever advantage Toyota has in the HP department - legal or not - will be studiously ignored by NA$CAR. It's kinda like "The Call" (remember that fiasco?) all over again. Â Mr. France's accountants and financial advisors can work with yen as easily as US dollars. It all adds to the bottom line - which is where NA$CAR lives. Screw the fan. Screw the integrity of the sport. Screw tradition. Screw everything and everybody as long as the money keeps coming in... I hate to be this way, but I just can't help it. Â I didn't watch today and I won't watch tomorrow. Maybe my one-man boycott will be felt by the NA$CAR accountants someday.. yeah, right. But if enough of us tune out and drop out, they will start to pay attention. Â Nick

hawk5
I am right there with you nick. Frustrated, had to work today, missed the race, will probably check in on sundays however.I think the worst part of this whole deal from a san antonio perspective is that TUNDRA factory in our front yard. That most of us know played a huge part of the closing of SAS!!!

But if enough of us tune out and drop out, they will start to pay attention.  Nick  I had an interesting phone call come to me at the end of last year. The man was from New York...He spoke almost the same words you just wrote. He was an investor and a multi millonare "casino" owner. He wanted to single handly take down nascar and had the money to do it. He wanted 40 rolling chassis (he just purchased) built alll out. He proclaimed to be creating a series much like ARCA.. I was unable to meet his needs facility wise.. after establishing I wasn't able to help him we chatted for a bit.  He told me he had put almost 7 million into the Robby Gordon racing team... the conversation ended like this (this is funny):  Him: "I have spent nearly 7 million in the RGR organization over the course of the last couple years"  Me: " Thats about the stupidest investment I've ever heard of...Has he won....anything!?"  Him: "I know...good day... *click*"   Sorry, what you wrote reminded me of that..I laughed
jracer98
Oh, that's just great. I'm sending Schrader out to sea for a Cup Career Viking funeral and the new guy I looking at watching is already chump-ed on TSZ Â Kidding. What do sponsors think is going to happen if they don't invest their advertising/awareness dollars with the one or two top multi car teams? Barring accidents and flukes, the Joyce book says that 6 cars (and "barely" 3 owners) got 75 percent of the "TV" effect in 2007. Â How much money did 9, 10 and 19 go thru under one roof last year without "anything" to show for it? Â The competitive equation is out of whack and the free market will follow the best return with it's cash. Watch for "sponsor trouble" to keep creeping "forward" on the starting grid. Â Just my opinion. Â Jay

Hmmmm!!! You are right about the NA$CAR Money Machine Nick, let's just look the other way. One more bright spot for me Hendricks cars dumping out, loved it. Not happy with my boy Clint getting punted out of contention. Lenny66
Snowball
One thing that you have to admit was that it was a very entertaining race though. We'll have to see how these cars work out on the other tracks, but they are great on the Restrictor Plate tracks! As far as Toyota goes, in defense of NASCAR, there isn't any way that they can legally keep them out of the sport. JMO

Hmmmm!!! Â Got to remember Gibbs teams were stronger in COT races last year...the only competition for Hendricks. They got a big pocket and new Camry decals this year. Waltrip's start up teams struggled greatly last year but now are showing improvement. Not sure what the ratings were for the 500, but the exposure is outrageous...ESPN's return has to be a big help for Nascar over the past year.
