NickHolt
Mike Cooper informs me that Red River Speedway signed with ASA as of last night to become an ASA member track. I imagine a news release will be forthcoming at some point. Nick
Jamie
Does that mean they will be racing there? I was fortunate enough to go to an ASA race last year at Bronson Motor Speedway, and man were there a lot of cars there.
txtom
Does that mean they will be racing there? Not necessarily. As an example, Kyle is an ASA Member track, and the ASA cars are not scheduled there this year. (To Kyle's credit, they tried last year, and couldn't get but 2 or 3 of the 25 or 30 plus cars in Houston to come over.) But it is possible that Red River is looking at that series for a special event or two.
debwill
Loudoggsruca, I know it's very confusing, but the ASA track membership is a totally separate organization from the ASA Late Model Series that races all over the country. By becoming an ASA member track, RRS can take advantage of good motorsports insurance for all competitors, etc. In addition, RRS will be able to offer its drivers, crew members, staff, etc., some additional insurance coverage for individual memberships (up to $500,000) that includes travel to and from the track. This individual coverage is valid at all ASA member tracks, e.g., THR and HMP - at no additional cost. It's only $85 a year! What makes things even more confusing about the two organizations is the similarity of the two logos. I understand there's a court battle brewing over the ASA name ownership. abrungot
Yeah.. Houston's "Pro" latemodels are also part of the ASA member Track.... but do they also fit the rules of the ASA Series?
jracer98
Deb and Mike(s) That's good news. Given the distances we tow, I think that the coverage is a good deal. What, exactly, do I need to do to get it in force for our trips to THR and RRS this year? Thanks Jay
txtom
Yeah.. Houston's "Pro" latemodels are also part of the ASA member Track.... but do they also fit the rules of the ASA Series? For the most part. Remember the ASA Challenge series is a little different than the ASA South or North series. The HMP cars fit the ASA South rules with very minor changes, if any. Biggest change would be the tires, HMP Goodyears versus ASA Hoosiers. Might also be a rear camber rule.
