Robert E. "Bobby" Jackson, 45, of Milan, died Tuesday, January 29, 2008, in Palm Springs, Calif.

 

Services are 11 a.m Thursday at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, 201 E. 4th Ave., Milan. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Rock Island. Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the family.

 

Robert Eugene Jackson was born October 2, 1962, in Rock Island, a son of Robert Archie Jackson and Shirley Ann DeVrieze Jackson. Previously he was married to Patricia Ann McGoldrick. Bobby became involved in racing at the early age of twelve, moving onto late-model racing in the Quad-City area, which evolved into becoming competition director for World of Outlaws for 18 years. He later was employed with NASCAR for 2 years. Currently he was employed in the construction industry. Second only to his family, racing was a great love of his life. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed building and crafting items from metal.

 

Surviving are his son, Joshua M. Jackson, Silvis; daughter, Stacey L. Jackson, Indianapolis, Ind.; two brothers, Dan Jackson and his fianc鬠Cheryl Hamilton, Milan, and Gary Jackson and his wife, Janet, Moline; sister, Karol Jackson, Milan; three nephews, two nieces; and many aunts, uncles, and other relatives. His grandparents, Luther and Roberta Jackson and Frank and Helen DeVrieze, three aunts, four uncles and a sister-in-law, Elinor Mae Jackson preceded him in death.
