2008 Street Stock Rules

 

 

 

1. Car Body and Frame

 

a. Any stock, production American-made vehicle including Camaro, Firebird and Mustang. Pick-ups will be allowed.

b. Frame must match body. Body must resemble a factory production vehicle.

c. Trunk pan may be removed for fuel cell clearance. Aftermarket body panels are okay. Full OEM panels are okay.

d. Race ready minimum weight is 3250 lbs with driver.

e. Minimum wheel base is 108 inches.

f. Frames or uni-body may be X-braced for safety.

g. Body panels may be cut out.

h. Original stock bumpers or IMCA style bumpers are required.

i. Original firewall in original stock position.

 

 

2. Chassis and Suspension

 

a. 4 point roll cage with 3 driver side bars and 2 passenger side bars required above frame.

b. Roll cage made of 11/2 inch tubing with .095 wall thickness.

c. Driver side door plate mandatory. 1/8 inch minimum thickness.

d. Suspension must remain in stock position for make and model.

e. Front and rear weight jacks are allowed.

f. If weight jacks are used, front and rear shocks may be relocated.

g. Lower control arms must be OEM and remain in stock location.

h. No aftermarket spindles.

i. Upper A-frame tower may be drilled to allow lowering of A-frame control arm.

j. Aftermarket upper control arms may be used but must remain in stock location.

k. Aftermarket springs are allowed but must remain in stock location.

l. Sway bar (if used) must remain in stock location and be OEM replacement.

m. Adjustable spring shackles and sliders are allowed.

n. Steel racing shocks allowed.

o. All four (4) brakes must be stock and in working condition.

p. Rear disc brakes are allowed.

q. Rub rails are okay-Panel rails allowed. Rub rails may not stick out further than outside edge of rear tire.

r. Brake bias control/adjuster allowed.

s. Quick steering is allowed.

 

 

3. Engine

 

a. Engine must be stock for type and year of vehicle used. GM in GM, Chrysler in Chrysler, Ford in Ford, etc…

b. Engine must remain in stock position. #1 spark plug may not be further back than the most forward ball joint.

c. All major components must remain stock for type and year of engine.

d. Engine-360 cubic inch maximum.

e. Heads must be OEM cast iron, minimum of 62 cc.

f. No bow tie, angle plugged heads .

g. Maximum intake valve- 2.02/Maximum exhausts valve-1.60.

h. No porting or polishing. No gasket matching.

i. No aluminum heads.

j. No heads smaller than 62 cc.

k. Pistons must be stock, zero decking of block is allowed.

l. Flat top pistons with 2 or 4 valve relief.

m. Unmodified stock OEM cast iron 4-barrell intake manifolds are allowed.

n. Edelbrock aluminum 4-barrell intake manifolds (part #2101) are allowed.

o. Marine cast iron manifolds are allowed on GM engines.

p. Porting, enlarging ports, port matching, and floor or port polishing are not allowed.

q. Carburetor must be stock 2 barrel of the same type and year engine was originally equipped or Holley 4412.

r. Any solid or hydraulic cam

s. No roller cams are allowed.

t. Stock lifter boar only.

u. Maximum .540 inch valve lift.

v. Any stud type rocker arm.

w. Any stock appearing rod, rod length restricted to 5.70” maximum

x. Exhaust must exit behind drivers seat

i. No exhaust flow devices allowed such as cross pipes or H-pipes.

ii. Headers are allowed-straight style only.

y. Stock or aluminum radiator allowed.

z. No antifreeze allowed.

 

 

 

4. Transmission and Rear End

 

a. Stock automatic with stock torque converter or standard transmission allowed. No 5 or 6 speed.

b. No mini-clutches allowed.

c. Minimum 10” steel clutch and fly wheel.

d. Rear end in stock position. 9” Ford allowed. Floaters allowed.

e. Posi-trac or locked rear ends allowed.

f. Painted drive shaft required (white) with car number in black.

g. Drive shaft loops required.

h. Standard Transmission with Blow Proof Bell Housing

i. 3 link with no traction control device and solid top link.

j. No j bars

 

 

 

5. Wheels and Tires

 

a. Steel wheels only with maximum width of 8 inches.

b. One (1) bead lock wheel allowed on right rear only.

c. Wheels may have a maximum of 2 inch offset.

d. Any wheel combination and back spacing allowed.

e. After market steel wheels allowed, but limited to standard weight. No lightweight wheels allowed.

f. Maximum tire width allowed is 8 inches.

g. Hoosier G60 IMCA or American Racer 15KK704 // 15KK704-short tires only.

h. Grooving is the only tire modification allowed. Maximum groove with is 3/8”.

i. Any wheel spacer allowed.

j. 5/8” wheel studs required.

 

 

 

6. General

a. High back aluminum racing seat is required.

b. Seat belt and shoulder harness are MANDATORY and must be equipped with a single latch, aircraft type release. 5 point harness highly recommended.

c. Battery box is mandatory.

d. Fuel cell mandatory. Fuel cell must be mounted in trunk and contained in metal can. FLAPPER VALVE RECOMMENDED.

e. Vehicle must be equipped with a fully charged, dry-chemical fire extinguisher with gauge and be securely fastened and within easy access of race ready driver. Halon system is allowed.

f. Emergency kill switch must be easily accessible inside driver compartment.

Make sure that you guys are reading the rules cafefully. WE ARE TECHING THIS YEAR.

Make sure that your cars are Legal.

 

m. Unmodified stock OEM cast iron 4-barrell intake manifolds are allowed.

n. Edelbrock aluminum 4-barrell intake manifolds (part #2101) are allowed.

o. Marine cast iron manifolds are allowed on GM engines.

 

If the Rules do not say it, don’t do it.
