Garrett Gets Second Win of 2007 as Stapp Clinches A-Line Auto Parts Super Stock Title with One Race to Go

Kyle – Two San Antonio drivers, Robert Mayberry and Greg Rohmer, started on the front row of the A-Line Auto Parts Super Stock feature at Thunderhill Raceway Saturday night, but it was New Braunfels' Keith Garrett who got his second win of the season while Cary Stapp of San Marcos cruised home in second place to clinch his fourth A-Line Super Stock title with one race left. No one else has won more than A-Line title. Clint LaFont of Volente finished third Saturday night and holds second place in the championship.

Mark Chrudimsky started on the pole in the "ExpressJet 50" Pro Modified race, which is almost unfair. He held the lead for all 50 laps with e a lot going on behind him and Tuffy Hudson of San Antonio was beating on the Hutto driver's bumper for the last five laps. Hudson finished second, with Houston's Jason Boyd third.

Aaron Brungot's just-repaired #50 dropped a valve in practice, so Kevin Bowen lent his #2 Buick LeSabre to Brungot, who is third in Thunder Stock points. When Jason Stanley broke an axle and spun in front of him, Brungot had no place to go and did severe damage to both cars, but soldiered on to finish seventh as Joey Jenkins got his first win with Steve Osborne and points leader Joey Tschoerner second and third.

John Heil of San Antonio started on the pole in the Grand Stock race as several of the top drivers including Heil, Jason Boyd and "San Antonio Joe" Aramendia entered the class just for fun. Jim Lynch, Jr. took the lead at about halfway and cruised to the finish while the crowd enjoyed a battle between Aramendia and his wife, Carolyn, a regular competitor in the class and currently eighth in points. The two traded paint as Carolyn made a rough pass on Joe at about the halfway point in the race as the crowd roared. Joe did end up second as Carolyn tangled with another car later in the race, but it was fun while it lasted.
