debwill
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Sept.5, 2007 Contact: Greg Spreen 830-249-2235 Spreen Racing, Boerne, TX Spreen Takes Win in Houston Houston Motorsports Park. Sept. 1st: Hot off his two wins at Texas World Speedway and his win two weeks ago at Thunder Hill Raceway, Boerne’s 13 year-old Dillon Spreen won the feature race for the Allison Legacy cars with his Chevrolet Monte Carlo at Houston Motorsports Park Saturday night on the 1/3 mile stock car oval. With only two short practice sessions and no qualifying, Spreen was assigned 5th starting position by race officials. Spreen moved to third place by making it three wide down the back straight and into turn three. Spreen then moved into second, but dropped to third when he was passed by JP Karpowitz from San Antonio. However, Spreen got second back on the next lap. Spreen then had to run down the leader, who had built a considerable lead. Spreen caught up in several laps and then worked on getting past. Spreen took the lead with five laps to go and won with Karpowitz finishing second and Jack Kelly a local Houston Legacy driver rounding out the top three. This was Spreen’s third race at the Houston Track. He won the “Winter Race” in February and finished 2nd in March. Incidentally, Spreen’s car was impounded after the Thunder Hill race two weeks ago and the race officials spent two days going over the car looking for rules infractions, but none were found. Dillon Spreen is a student at the Boerne Middle School South and is sponsored by South Bay Development, Spreen Racing Engines, Swenson Racing Chassis and Dr. Greg Baber DDS.
