Keith Sandefur Texas Asphalt Modified Series Race Preview: Race # 12 San Antonio Speedway, Texas

 

It is that special time of the year down in this part of south Texas. The first few weeks of October are upon us. Now for some that means that the local high school football team's season is in full swing and running like a well oiled machine. For others it means another kind of machine and that it is time for the Annual San Antonio Speedway OCTOBER"FAST". Which in the past has produce some of the best racing memories in the history of the Alamo city's speedway. This year the speedfest has been divided into two separate race weekends. The Texas Tornado is not scheduled to appear until next weekend but the forecast for Saturday night's race is set to be just as powerful of a performance as the ultra-competitive O'Reiley Auto Parts Texas Asphalt Modified Series (TAMS) blows in to town for the series final race of the 2003 campaign.

 

Keith Sandefur of New Braunfels, Texas is set to "batten down the hatches" as he takes to the 1/2 mile speedway's high banks and looks to gain a top 5 finishing position in the race as well as to obtain a top 15 points position in the final season standings. Keith, driving the Jon Schultz owned # 44 Texas Jeep Outfitters / Austin Performance modified trails 15th place competitor Ed Gilfus of Bastrop, Texas by only 81 points (333-414) coming into Saturday's race. "San Antonio has been good to us in this car. We always seem to find a good setup that makes this car handle good down here", Keith stated on Friday morning. "We really want a top 15 finish in the points so we have a good, solid foundation to build on for next season."

 

Keith's other car, the Lone Star Motorsports/ Champion Toyota/ GK services/ Sweeney's Performance and Machine/ McManus Welding #88 Late Model finished in the top 10 in points at Thunderhill Raceway in Kyle, Texas weekly competition.

 

The racing action is set to start at 6:45pm with the Parade of Aid and Opening ceremonies. So come on down and enjoy the races.
